PROFESSIONAL MURDER MUSIC: So Where's That 'New Music?'

Guitarist Tom Hatziemanouel of the Los Angeles industrial band PROFESSIONAL MURDER MUSIC has issued the following update:

"SO WHERE'S THAT 'NEW MUSIC???'

"It's now September 2008. 2009 is coming up fast. It's been how long now?

"Yet another blog from me, followed by a long silence... hopefully NOT. Where's the fucking music already??

"It's frustrating me that I seem to keep making promises and such that at the time, seem completely realistic, then turn out not to be.

"The big updates we keep planning and promising, the videos (that I HAVE been editing together by the way, I have about 12 one-minute clips so far),the new music 'coming soon'...

"Setbacks and frustrations aside, we are working very hard EVERY DAY to get this shit DONE. In order for this band to endure, we can not afford to release anything that is mediocre or even 'good' for that matter... We know that when we finally break our long silence, that the noise we make must be GREAT and undeniable. The pressure can — I guess — be overwhelming at times but I assure you that we are up to the challenge now more than ever before.

"In all honesty, we have four (almost five) of the new songs completely recorded and being mixed (we are just tweaking the final mixes for these). We have another three brand new songs that we feel are among the strongest we've written and are in the process of being tracked now. Then we have a handful that are tracked and musically complete that are just waiting for vocals... and then we have about two more albumss worth of ideas that we haven't finished and about another record or so of songs that just weren't holding up to the others and have been scraped. So as for that 'single' (and the videos, and whatever else I've alluded to in the past)... That song is pretty much ready to go, as are a few more. We're just trying to get everything else in line. The last thing we want to do is pull an Axl Rose on our fans (and ourselves) and release a new song or two and disappear again ('End Of Days', anyone?). Besides, we can't afford to do that anyway!

"We pretty much have what will (most likely) be the new album written and for the most part tracked. The vocals are being held to extremely high standards and so far Roman [Marisak; vocals, guitar] is delivering and even exceeding many of our expectations. The same holds true for the songs themselves. Through the process of writing these songs, we have — individually and collectively — learned the art of true songwriting. We insist that not one ounce of mediocrity will see its way into these songs.

"That being said... things are progressing rapidly and we are planning our course for the rest of the year and next. Some of these plans may surprise you, others not so much. I can tell you that what we collectively see as the future for this band is very exciting to us and hopefully you all will share in that excitement.

"Had enough yet? Allow me to add this as well:

"I've played the new songs for some close friends of mine (some are what you'd call PMM fans and some even dislike the band). All have had the same genuine response. Every single person that has heard them is completely blown away. I am extremely proud of what we are doing and I am as enthusiastic for it to be heard as you probably are to hear it. I'll end this with a quote from my former GRAVES bandmate Graham Vanderveen: 'That's Roman on vocals? Nooo... Really? Holy shit! What the FUCK has he been waiting for all these years?!?!'

"I honestly feel that you will all be amazed when you hear this.. and I sincerely hope that I am right!"

PROFESSIONAL MURDER MUSIC's last release was the "De Profundis" dual-sided EP of five cover songs and five acoustic revisions of previous material, which came out in 2005.
